    True Cyclonic Units

How do I clean the motor guard screen? (True Cyclonic units only)

    1. Remove the dirt canister from the power unit.
    2. Look up inside the bottom of the unit, through the plastic cone and you will see a small screen.
    3. Take a stiff bristled brush (a new toilet brush works great) and stick the brush thorugh the cone and brush any build-up off the screen.
*Note- use gentle pressure as to not push the screen up towards the motor compartment. The guard screen is permanently installed and cannot be removed.
    4. Replace the dirt canister.

My power unit will not turn on, what can I do?

    1. Check the breaker in your electrical panel and reset if necessary.
    2. Check to see if the reset button on the power unit itself has popped out.
*Note- The reset button is located on the upper left hand side of the unit above where the low voltage wires connect to the machine. Most noticeable when popped out after the breaker has been tripped.
    3. Check to ensure the power unit did not get unplugged accidentally.
    4. If the power unit still does not come on, try plugging something else such as a hair dryer or lamp into the same electrical outlet. If the test item does not work, most likely there is an issue with the electrical receptacle. Call an electrician.
    5. Were you vacuuming and the unit shut off? If the unit has been running for approximately an hour or more, let the unit cool down for 5-10 minutes and try again.
    6. If the issue has not been corrected, please contact us.

The vac tubing located near my power unit has a black film on it, what is it?

The black film is carbon dust that is caused by the wearing down of the motor brushes. This is not an indicator of bad motor performance, just that the motor is being used. This dust typically accumulates on the PVC tubing that connects to your unit on the right side because the tubing has a static electric charge that attracts small dust particles. The best way to remove any of the dust that accumulates is with a stiff brush or vacuuming it. Getting the carbon dust wet causes it to smear.

I have low suction at the end of my hose handle- what could the problem be?

    1. Ensure that the motor guard screen has been cleaned and is free from debris.
    2. Have you recently had remodeling work done in your home that a nail or screw could have been driven through the vacuum tubing?
    3. Check to ensure that all other valves and accessories such as a VacPan or Vroom is not in operation and are properly closed.
    4. There could be a clog in your hose. Snake a dry garden hose from the wall-end of the hose to dislodge any clog that may have occurred. You can also insert a butter knife into the wall-end of the hose working it down to the clog. Shake the hose so that the butter knife will bounce agains the clog to dislodge it.
    5. If you still experience low suction, does it occur at every inlet valve, or only at one valve? If just one valve, most likely there is a clog close to that valve. Look inside the valve and see if the clog is visible. If not, unplug the power unit and remove the dirt canister. Using an upright vacuum or utility vac, insert its hose nozzle into the valve and create a seal with your hand or a rag. You may be able to pull the clog back out of the valve. If not, contact us. If it occurs at every valve, there may be a blockage in the trunk line or if the system is older or used excessively, the motor may need to be replaced soon, please contact us.

    Filtered Cyclonic Units

How do I change my filter?

    1. Remove the dirt canister from the power unit.
    2. Remove the cone by pulling straight down.
    3. Turn the filter latch 90 degrees to remove the filter.
    4. Replace the filter and secure the latch.
    5. Replace the cone and the canister.

How often should I change my filter?

This depends on your cleaning habits. We recommend changing the filter once a year, more often if you have children or pets as you tend to clean more. It is also recommended that when the dirt canister is emptied, the filter be removed and tapped against the side of a trash receptacle to remove excess dirt, dust and debris. The filter is NOT washable. DO NOT GET THE FILTER WET.

Where can I buy a replacement filter?

To purchase a replacement filter, please contact us.

What hoses can I use with the on-board valve? (Filtered Cyclonic Units Only)

All hoses will work with the on-board valve. However, if your hose has a VACUFLO style end you will need to use an adapter to fit the on-board valve so that the on/off switch on the hose will work.

How do I empty the dirt canister?

    1. Remove the dirt canister from the power unit.
    2. Discard contents of the canister in a trash receptacle.
    3. Replace the dirt canister.
